Modern art began with Degas, one of many artists who influenced me as a child. Let me share my art with you.
I have loved art and the processes of creating art since I was a child. I was given art lessons from age 6 on and taken to Museums in elementary school. I will never forget the first time I saw world renowned artists of the caliber of Degas, Titian, Bierstadt and Remington in the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.
These made an indelible impression on me forever!
Art never ceases to fascinate and challenge me. The creation of art causes me to reflect on the awesome creativity displayed by our own creator.
I enjoy working in both abstract and realistic styles in art, as well as painting people and animals. In fact, I feel that my personal style is evolving into a combination of these at the present time. The important thing is that my art be authentic, purposeful, and crafted by hand. These are some works that I feel best exemplify my personal vision in my art.
I often draw inspiration from nature,
as I enjoy living in the country and having many pets. Mother nature is an awesome artist herself, providing wildlife of all kinds here such as interesting birds, fish and mammals.
I also enjoy the beautiful foliage and trees, ponds, lakes and rivers found nearby, not to mention beautiful skies each day!
This provides creative inspiration for me whether I depict nature realistically or use nature's design elements that I see every day around me in my abstract art.

The Studio 206 Group Art Show featured our lady artists' co op. Studio 206 is a wonderful group of art friends who have been working together for many years. These are three pieces of the body of work I showed there. This event, fall 2016, took place in the Columbus Arts Council Center, located in the Rozensweig building, downtown Columbus.
This is the annual show for our Mississippi Chapter of the National Museum for Women in the Arts. This show displays art made by women members located all over the state of Mississippi.
This particular show was held in the Eugenia Summer Gallery on the MUW campus, simultaneously with the MUW Alumni Show, which is only held every 4 years. I had two pieces shown in the Alumni Show as well.
This year's event was held on March 12, 2019 in Hattiesburg, Ms. at the Cultural Center.
We had well over 100 quality works of art in this year's show from our artists statewide.
The ladies above contributed many works themselves and several were award winners.
I found myself in the new direction of building textural effects using vertical strands of expressive colored lines in the top painting.
In the bottom painting, I painted large fields of color and texture in the background, then superimposed all white vertical strands over them.
I enjoyed the challenge of trying to paint a realistic snow scene just using my imagination. I especially liked the colors and textures in my trees!
